Woodland Hills, CA 91367

One of the hottest places in Los Angeles County, and our own back yard.

Woodland Hills sits at the western end of the San Fernando Valley, ringed by hills that trap afternoon heat, and it turns up on the county high temperature more often than almost anywhere else in Los Angeles. Igloo is based three miles away in Canoga Park, so this is the market we know best. Three things define the work here.

Systems here run at the top of their range

The hills that make Woodland Hills pleasant in spring are the same hills that stop the heat leaving in August. Equipment here spends more hours at full load than it would almost anywhere else Igloo works. That shortens the life of a marginal system and it punishes anything undersized, which is why a proper load calculation matters more here than the rule of thumb a lot of people were quoted on.

Sixties and seventies tract, south of the boulevard

Much of the residential stock went up between the 1960s and 80s, on slabs and up into the hillside streets south of Ventura Boulevard. The hillside houses carry long duct runs through hot attics and the flat ones usually have original returns that are too small for the load. Both show up as one room that never matches the thermostat.

Warner Center is a different job entirely

Offices, medical suites and mid-rise buildings around Warner Center run rooftop and split systems with tenants who cannot be without cooling for a working day. That is scheduled and staged work, not a house call, and it is priced and planned differently. The commercial page covers how we handle it.

Booking

What happens when you call from Woodland Hills.

Four steps, and none of them is a sales call. The point of writing them down is that you can hold us to them.

You call or send the form

The number goes to the shop, not to a call center, and the form on this page reaches the same inbox. Tell us the city, what the system is doing, and roughly how old it is.

You get a window, not a day

Booked before 3 PM and we aim for the same day. After 3 PM you are first on the next morning’s board. Either way you get an arrival window rather than a vague promise about Thursday.

A technician diagnoses on site

Nothing is quoted from a photograph or a description over the phone. The technician finds the actual fault, shows you what it is, and prices the repair before touching anything.

You approve the price first

Written down, agreed, then the work starts. If the honest answer is replacement rather than repair, we say so plainly and you are free to take time over it.

Questions

What Woodland Hills callers ask first.

Answered without hedging.

How fast can you get to Woodland Hills?

Our shop is on Canoga Avenue, about three miles from Warner Center, so this is effectively our own neighbourhood. Booked before 3 PM and same day is the normal expectation.

After 3 PM you go first on the next morning’s board, with an arrival window rather than a vague day.

It gets hotter here than the forecast says. Does that change what I should install?

It changes the sizing, yes. Woodland Hills regularly runs above the wider Los Angeles forecast, and a system picked off square footage alone tends to be undersized for the afternoons that actually matter.

We size off a load calculation that accounts for the orientation, the insulation and the glass, which is the difference between a system that holds and one that runs all day and never catches up.

My house is on the hillside and one room is always hotter. What is that?

On the hillside streets it is usually the length of the duct run to that room, through an attic that is hotter than the outside air, on ductwork that leaks somewhere along the way.

That is a ductwork job, not a condenser job. Replacing the outdoor unit will not change it, and we will tell you so before you spend the money.

Do you service offices and buildings around Warner Center?

Yes. Rooftop units, splits and multi-tenant buildings, scheduled around the tenants rather than through the middle of their working day.

The commercial page has the detail on change-outs, contracts and staging.

Is a maintenance plan worth it here?

In this climate it pays for itself more often than it does elsewhere, because systems here run more hours and fail in the heat rather than in the shoulder season.

Two visits a year and priority scheduling is the point of it. The maintenance page has what is covered.
